My great friend, Sunny.

These two photos show part of a special concert at the Seoul Jazz Academy in South Korea on 4 April 2015. It was organized by my great friend Sun-Young Kim whom I call Sunny. She is inspired by the messages of hope and love in my life and wants to share them with Korea and the world. Sunny's music with me encouraged me to start composing poetry in December 2002. The sense of rhythm also helps me to keep going when I might get stuck. Here are two of my earliest poems that fit my thoughts about music with Sunny and being connected around the world.

Music is good for my soul (March 2003)
I really like my time with Sunny
I think she is lovely to be with.
She is sunshine in my life already
I can see a bright time together.
She is musical and spiritual  and gentle and kind.
I like the songs Sunny sings.
I like to listen to them later.
The music is good.
It is good for my soul.
The creating,
the  release of Ideas  and feelings,
and hearing the music.
No right or wrong, just feeling it and doing it.
I like the completing of the musical thought.
I like the finishing better.

Connections (May 2005)
Connecting is my purpose in life:
it is why we are here.
My world is connecting the dots:
you are one dot,
I am another.
We live in a world of connections
and the lines spread out from here.
Connecting is building
a bridge of words,
a bridge of love.
